京剧艺术在我国对外文化交流中占有重要位置。从建国初期起,中国京剧院的艺术家们曾经向五大洲几十个国家的人民介绍独具特色的京剧艺术。改革开放后,剧院除继续派团出访外,还在努力寻求拓展对外交流的途径,用多种方式把京剧推上国际舞台。——1989年中日两国艺术家共同编演的《龙王》是一项新的尝试。由日本著名歌舞伎艺术家市川猿之助先生提议,并由中方编剧、中国京剧院院长吕瑞明和日方编剧奈河彰辅编写,市川猿之助任总导演并日方主演,李光为京剧导演并中方主演的大型神话剧《龙王》,使东方两个古典戏剧艺术歌舞伎和京剧在撞击中迸发出新
Peking Opera plays an important role in our country’s foreign cultural exchange.
