Six subcutaneously implanted LNG rods have been implanted as a method of contraception. The authors analyzed a cohort of 6 women with LNG rods and a study of certain hormone levels in general chemopreventive blood using Copper IUD applicators as controls. Subjects were: 18 to 35 years of physical health; fertility; normal menstruation; non-lactation; no contraindications to steroid treatment; no anemia and abnormal genital bleeding. Control group using copper T_ (200) IUD, the same conditions as above. The implants used were silicone rubber rods containing uniformly dispersed LNG in the polydimethylsiloxane and were mounted in thin-walled silicone rubber tubes each having a length of 30 mm, containing LNG 52 mg, the entire implant Length 34mm, diameter of 2.4mm
