There are two basic contradictions in philosophical circles about the nature of subject and object categories: one view holds that subject and object are one pair of entity categories and the other view is a pair of relationship categories. This article argues that both of these views have their correctness and rationality, but both of them are unilateral and incomplete. The correct and complete view is that subject and object are not only a pair of substantive category but also a pair of relation category, which is the unity of substance and relationship. Only in this way can reveal the true nature of the subject and the object and its profound significance of the category.
