Objective To investigate the effect of sleep quality on the control of blood glucose in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods Eighty patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 80 healthy volunteers who were treated in Changping Hospital of Dongguan City, Guangdong Province from April 2014 to April 2016 were selected as the diseased group and the normal group, respectively, and were statistically analyzed by self-made questionnaire. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale (PSQI) was used to score the data of sleep quality, PSQI score and blood glucose compliance of all the subjects. Results The total score of PSQI in the sick group was (8.25 ± 2.09) points, which was higher than that of the normal group (5.81 ± 1.09), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). There were 19 patients (23.75%) with PSQI score (4.75 ± 2.12), 61 (76.25%) with PSGI score (9.31 ± 3.69), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05), and the scores of sleep time, sleep disturbance and daytime dysfunction among the PSQI factors in patients with glycemic control were significantly lower than those in patients without glycemic control (P <0.05). There was no statistical difference in the use of hypnotic drugs between the two groups Significance (P> 0.05). Conclusion Patients with type 2 diabetes have poorer sleep quality than healthy volunteers, which in turn can affect their control of blood glucose.
