当代,意指我们现在所处的时代,在这个时代,有很多艺术都能被称之为当代艺术。其实,并不是在这个时间段上才称之为当代艺术,而是这种艺术能具有更为深远的意义并区别于现代艺术和之前的艺术。在西方,当代艺术发生在二十世纪六十年代,在中国,发生在九十年代。当代油画艺术正在接受着当代性与时代性的洗礼,当代油画的种种问题也是画家与批评家研究的热点。
Contemporary means that we are now in an era where many art can be called contemporary art. In fact, this period of time is not called contemporary art, but this art can have far-reaching significance and is different from modern art and previous art. In the West, contemporary art took place in the 1960s, in China and in the 1990s. Contemporary art of oil painting is receiving the baptism of contemporaryity and the times. The problems of contemporary oil painting are also the hot spots of painters and critics.
