Objective To investigate the effects of chronic iodine and fluoride combined with chronic exposure on thyroid function in children aged 8-10 years. Methods Forty-eight children aged 8-10 years old were selected. According to the average concentration of water iodine and fluoride in different regions, 17 cases were divided into high fluorine group, 11 high fluoride group and 11 high contrast group. Urinary fluoride, urinary iodine levels for all children’s children. Results The levels of urinary iodine and urinary fluoride in high fluoride group and high iodine high fluoride group were significantly higher than those in control group (P <0.05). The levels of SOD and ROS in high fluoride group were significantly higher than those in high fluoride group and high iodine group The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion Chronic exposure to high iodine and high fluoride may have a significant effect on thyroid function in children. There is no significant difference in thyroid levels except for T4, and SOD and ROS may serve as effective markers of high fluoride and iodine damage.
