In 2020, the application of information and communication technology (ICT) in other economic fields will bring about significant energy-saving and emission-reduction effects. From an economic point of view, the energy efficiency brought by ICTs can be converted into nearly 600 billion euros (946.5 billion U.S. dollars) in cost savings. Smart Motor: Chinese manufacturing research shows that without optimization, 10% of China’s emissions (equivalent to 2% of global emissions) will come from China’s electric motors, while industrial efficiency will increase by 10%, reducing CO2-equivalent emissions by 200 million tons. If applied globally, optimized motor and industrial automation will reduce 970 Mt CO 2 equivalent by € 68bn ($ 107.2bn) by 2020.
