汉语语言极为丰富,汉语中的成语更是其极为璀璨的一部分。成语大多数是古语,有的成语已有数千年的历史,有些成语有特定的出处,一句成语往往就包含着一个完整的故事,仅从字面上难以译为另一种语言。例如,把“胸有成竹”英译为“他心里有棵现成的竹子”就成了笑话,这就给汉语成语的翻译带来了极大的难度,不仅初学者感到难以捉摸,就是有一定英语造诣的人也感到困难。同样,要把英语中的名句译为汉语也非易事。这里介绍几种有关汉、英成语互译的书籍,供有兴趣的读者参考。
