Objective To investigate the expression of p53, CD34 and E cadherin in bladder transitional cell carcinoma and to evaluate the prognosis of bladder cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of p5 3, CD34, E cadherin in 46 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and 8 cases of normal bladder mucosa. Results The abnormal expression rates of p5 3 and E cadherin in 46 cases of bladder cancer were 27.7% and 45.6% respectively. The abnormal expression of p5 3 was 9.1% in superficial bladder cancer and 33.3% in infiltrative type, with significant difference (P <0.05), abnormal expression of pathological grade Ⅰ ~ Ⅱ was 7.1%, and grade Ⅲ was 44.4 %, Respectively. The difference was significant (P <0.05). The abnormal expression was 89% in the recurrent group and 15% in the non-recurrent group, the difference was significant (P <0.05). The abnormal expression rate of E Cadherin was 77.3% in superficial bladder cancer and 33.3% in infiltrative type, the difference was significant (P <0.05); in grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ bladder cancer was 71.4%, grade Ⅲ (7.8%). There was a significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). There was a significant difference between the two groups (18.0% and 6.0%, respectively) (P <0.01). The abnormal expression rate of CD3 4 in bladder cancer was 43.3%. There was no significant difference in the expression of CD3 4 between the different stages and between the recurrent and non-recurrent groups. Conclusions The abnormal expressions of p5 3 and E Cadherin are closely related to the malignant degree and recurrence of bladder cancer and can be used as molecular biological indicators to determine the prognosis and recurrence of tumor
