The famous historian Professor Gao Min’s book “The History of Northern and Southern Dynasties” was published in August 2003 by Zhongzhou Ancient Books Publishing House. This is another contribution of Mr. Gao Min in advancing the history of Southern and Northern Dynasties. Holding a reading of the “history of northern and southern China,” the first thing that intrigued us deeply is the long preface by Mr. Gao Min. In this preface, Mr. Gao Min elaborates on the commendable academic role of “North and South History.” “History of the South” and “History of the North” in “Twenty-Four Histories” collectively referred to as the “History of North and South” come from the hand of Li Yan-shou in the Tang Dynasty.
