This essay is the preface of the latest edition of the Soviet Union entitled “The Image of the Motherland”, a collection of paintings depicting nearly 20 years of Russian painters’ painting. It discusses the history of the first American art exhibition “Soviet Russia” in 1960, the sixth The achievements and existing problems of the Russian painting in the art exhibition have some reference value for the study and understanding of the development of modern Soviet art. Therefore, it was decided to translate the full text of the Preamble and select some representative new paintings of different painters, different themes and different styles from the collection of paintings.
