崔莺莺、杜丽娘是我国文学史上两位奇女子,两人都生活在封建礼教的阴影下,均将“情”放在第一位。但由于所处时代思想氛围的差异,使得她们的个性色彩存在鲜明的差异,莺莺追求的爱情虽高于一切,但她在爱情中却表现出犹豫不决;而丽娘追求出生入死的爱情,她的态度坚决,性格坚强。面对爱情她们都表现出叛逆性格,也由此构造了她们各自典型的形象。
