我国从上世纪70年代开始便从事鳗鱼养殖,目前已形成养殖、加工、饲料生产等一体的完整性的产业体系。1998年的鳗鱼养殖生产量约占全世界总量的70%。根据农业部渔业局所做的统计,到去年年底为止,我国鳗鱼养殖面积为1万hm2,生产量16万t,加工企业近50家、饲料生产企业百余家、年间的加工能力10万t、饲料生产能力已达35万t。
