Researchers at Intel Corp. recently developed the world’s smallest and fastest CMOS transistor. The breakthrough will allow Intel to build microprocessors that contain more than 400 million transistors running at speeds up to 10GHz (10 billion cycles per second) over the next five to 10 years and operating below 1 volt.
