洛阳是我国著名的古都,自夏以来,已有近4000年的建城历史,先后有13个朝代在这里建都。几千年的风雨动乱,使这座宏大繁华的都城到解放时仅是一座4.5平方公里,人口不足10万的破旧小城。解放以后,洛阳发展很快。现在的洛阳,建成区面积已达50平方公里,城市人口达70万。不久以前,本刊记者专门就古都洛阳的发展和保护问题采访了副市长窦祖皖同志。下面是采访记要:
