Modernist art was introduced to China in the early 20th century. After being pursued by some artists in the 1930s, it declined to the lowest level in the late 1930s and failed to develop in the Mainland for decades. In the 1950s, Hong Kong and Taiwan got the continuity and dissemination until the second half of the 70’s, due to the recovery of the mainland’s modernism and the arts of the two regions together, the mainstream of the 1980s, to achieve the practice of modern art in China And the culmination of theoretical discussion until the wave of post-modernist art in the early 1990s. The ever-changing popular thoughts and art forms have had a significant impact on the development and spread of Chinese art both at the time and in the later years. It is of academic importance to sort out and analyze the Chinese modernist art of the 20th century.
