1965年,我们在云南省保山地区“台北八号”田中找到了籼、粳天然杂交的低结实株,从穗上收到少量种子。次年,从这些种子长出的植株全部都是雄性不育株,我们用粳稻“红帽缨”与其杂交、回交,于1969年育成了滇一型红帽缨不育系。此不育系用多个粳稻品种和低海拔籼稻品种测交,子一代都是雄性不育的;仅用云南高海拔籼稻测交的子一代有一定的恢复力。于是,我们开展了人工制造恢复系的工作。当时设想,不育系既然来源
In 1965, we found low-yielding strains of indica and japonica hybrids in Tianzhong, Taipei 8, Baoshan District, Yunnan Province, and received a small amount of seeds from the ears. The following year, the plants grown from these seeds were all male-sterile plants. We crossbred with japonica “Red-capped Spur,” and backcrossed them. In 1969, we cultivated a Yunnan Red-capped male sterile line. This CMS line was crossed with a few japonica rice varieties and low-altitude indica rice varieties. All the progenies were male-sterile.
