We conducted a series of wind tunnel experiments to elucidate the characteristics of the surface sanding process with rows of roots and their effect on erosion rate. The experiment was conducted in an indoor wind tunnel (spanwise direction) with a cross-section of 50 cm × 40 cm and a length of 17 m. Six kinds of sand samples were prepared and placed on a sand tray of 60 cm x 30 cm. Each sample consisted of fine sand (d 0 .84 mm) and coarse sand
