应NIAS之邀,我的北欧之行的第一站是丹麦的哥本哈根。NIAS是北欧亚洲研究院(Nordic Institute of Asian Studies)的简称,地处哥本哈根市东南部的Amager岛上,那里是哥本哈根大学的人文学院。但NIAS并不是哥本哈根大学的机构,而是一个由北欧五国政府资助的独立研究院。NIAS的院长Thommy Svensson教授是研究东南亚问题的人类学家,他同时还是欧洲科学基金会亚洲委员会和欧洲东南亚学会的主席,这显示了NIAS在欧洲的学术地位。刚到丹麦时,Thommy形象地介绍说,NIAS是一个以北欧二十多所大学为基地的
At the invitation of NIAS, my first stop in my Nordic trip was in Copenhagen, Denmark. NIAS is short for the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, located on Amager Island in the southeast of Copenhagen, where the College of Humanities is located. But NIAS is not a unit of the University of Copenhagen, but an independent institute financed by the five Nordic governments. NIAS Dean Thommy Svensson is an anthropologist who studies Southeast Asian issues. He is also the president of the European Commission for Science in Asia and the European Association for Southeast Asian Studies, which shows NIAS’s academic standing in Europe. When arrived in Denmark, Thommy vividly introduced that NIAS is a base of more than 20 universities in Northern Europe
