为了深入挖掘整理井冈山的自然特点,申报加入世界生物圈保护区网络,应中国人与生物圈国家委员会和井冈山自然保护区管理局的邀请,中国地质科学院岩溶地质研究所/联合国教科文组织国际岩溶研究中心常务副主任曹建华研究员率领考察队员张春来和吴夏,于2011年12月23-25日,对井冈山保护区的岩溶地貌,特别是其中最有代表性的溶洞——石燕洞进行了深入考察,获得了初步的考察数据和结论。
