Over the past few years there has been a tendency to implement electrically tuned radios for stereoscopic and automated products. These radios use the digital phase-locked loop (PLL) principle, which has become possible thanks to the emergence of LSI arrays. They remove the mechanical tuning mechanism and equip the user with push-button control, digital and fascinating control operations that are not used in the general tuning radio. Many electronic tuners have been designed around custom blades or standard microcomputers or CMOS PLLs attached to a high-speed bipolar.
