Falkland Islands, also known as the Malvinas Islands, is located in the South Atlantic, more than 500 kilometers west of Argentina. The archipelago is composed of the islands of Greater Vervina and Soledad and more than 200 islets, covering an area of 120,000 square kilometers and a population of more than 20,000, mostly Scottish. Three-fourths of residents live in Soledad, the capital of Stanley Harbor. The economy of the island is dominated by livestock husbandry, and today income from travel and stamp issuance is also a source of income for the island. The Falkland Islands belong to Argentina. They were occupied by the British in 1833, and Aying contested their sovereignty. On April 9, 1982, the “Battle of the Falklands” broke out. In 1983, Argentina issued a stamp “Recovering the First Anniversary of the Island of Malvinas and South Georgia” in 1983 (Figure 1).
