In the deposits formed by horizontal or gentle layered sedimentary rocks, the atypical deformation of open pit slopes under these conditions appears as the depth of open pit mining increases. Its atypical nature is that the actual stress state and failure mechanism of the rock mass do not accord with the pre-evaluation made in the open-pit design stage.
