全长1622km的兰新铁路复线武(武威南)—乌(乌鲁木齐)段提前一年于1994年9月16日胜利铺通。是日16时,兰新复线铺通典礼在乌鲁木齐铁路局与兰州铁路局交接处的疏勒河站举行。国务院副总理邹家华、全国人大常委会副委员长铁木尔·达瓦买提同志出席了庆典仪式,国家计委、铁道部等部门和新疆、甘肃两省区党政军负责同志,兰新复线建设、施工单位负责人及劳动模范、部分铁路职工等6000余人参加了庆典盛会。这条复线建设速度之快、效率之高,创造了中国铁路长大干线复线建设的奇迹。1995年上半年复线全部通车后,将使兰新铁路的运能从11Mt增加到30Mt,全线自动闭塞形成后能力可达50Mt。届时,西北铁路运输的“瓶颈”制约将基本解决。兰新复线的铺通对
