Developments in Distributed Data Acquisition Instrumentation John M. Amason, Mark Products US (S11.1) The distributed data acquisition system has entered a period when many companies have sold more than 200 A track system. The advantage of a distributed system is that it reduces distortion and the noise introduced by the extra twisted pair co-depth cable, increases the flexibility of the field detector arrangement and greatly increases the total number of recording points. Distributed systems also proposed the system self-test, system operator diagnosis and improved display, copy of the road data and other requirements. Due to the use of new technological achievements such as optical data transmission, image display, microprocessor and software hardening, the system can be satisfied with the expanding requirements of distributed data acquisition. This article discusses the unique requirements of a distributed data acquisition system,
