列强连绵不断的战争的确为欧洲分裂的原因, 而共同的文化资源更无疑是欧洲分久必合的深层动因。笔者认为, 五大资源对一体化由理想变为现实起到了关键作用: 古希腊民主制、罗马法、统治欧洲长达1500 年的基督教、以自由平等博爱为诉求的启蒙政治哲学和反思英国工业革命的社会主义思潮。欧洲和平主义运动正是在这些资源的孕育下得以延续, 并在二战后找到新的发展契机。
The continuous war of powers is indeed the reason for the split in Europe, and the common cultural resources are undoubtedly the deeper impetus to Europe’s long-term unity.
