The moral system determined by the socialist market economy includes all kinds of moral norms that are mutually restrictive. If we neglect any one aspect, there will be an overall tilt and the operation of the socialist market economy will deviate from the correct direction. It is the flat quadrilaterals in which many mutually restrictive moral norms form a force that enables people to consciously regulate their own actions under the influence of such comprehensive forces so as to promote social and economic development. Judging from the actual situation of moral construction in various places at present, the following kinds of relations should be dealt with in building a moral standard that is compatible with the socialist market economy: the relationship between “righteousness” and “profitability.” The market economy is a profit-driven economy.
