公元前五五一年,孔子诞生于鲁国陬邑昌平乡(今山东曲阜东南尼丘山附近)。传说因母亲颜徵在曾到尼丘山祈祷而生下孔子,因而孔子名丘,字仲尼。孔子的祖先微子为商代王室,周灭商后,周成王封微子为宋国国君。后因宋国内乱,孔子的曾祖逃亡到鲁国,从此孔氏家族开始在这块土地上扎根生活。父亲叔梁纥曾担任鲁国贵族臧武仲的家臣,以勇武著称。孔子三岁时,叔梁纥去世,家道从此衰微,孔子与母亲相依为命,过着艰难清苦的生活。
In 51-5 BC, Confucius was born in Changping Township, Guyi Town, Shandong Province (near the southeastern Niqiu Mountain in Qufu, Shandong Province).
