外事翻译是一项技术含量较高的实务性工作。外事翻译员除了具备较高的英语听说水平外,还必须具有良好的语用能力。一直以来,外事翻译的讨论大多都是借鉴翻译理论的若干原则,具体谈及如何提高外事翻译水平的论文并不多见。本文提出外事翻译工作过程实际上就是在一定语境下的交际过程,并提出几项可操作的交际原则,以及翻译员应如何在日常生活中提高自己处理翻译事务的水平。
Foreign affairs translation is a high-tech practical work. In addition to having a high level of English listening and speaking, foreign translators must also have good pragmatic competence. All along, most of the discussions on foreign affairs translation are based on a number of principles of translation theory. There are few papers on how to improve the translation level of foreign affairs. This paper proposes that the process of foreign affairs translation is actually a process of communication in a certain context and proposes several operational principles of communication and how translators should improve their handling of translation matters in their daily life.
