1979年,两熟制试验在较肥沃的鳝血黄泥土上进行,土壤有机质含量3.46%,全氮0.174%,全磷0.18%,速效磷37.5ppm,速效钾67ppm。三熟制试验田为黄泥土,有机质含量2.7634%,全氮0.1779%,全磷0.170%,速效钾49ppm。试验分“V”字型、片仓氏、一哄头(对照)三种施肥法。一哄头为二次重复,其他均为三次重复。顺序排列,小区面积两熟制18.2×15尺(0.046亩),密度3×5寸,每亩4万穴;三熟制19.2×12尺(0.038亩),密度3×4.5寸,每亩4.4万穴。品种均为广陆矮4号
