Droplet velocities of diesel fuel spray before and after impinging on a wall at high injection pressure are measured by a laser Doppler velocimeter with a burst spectrum analyser. The reults show that the droplet velocities of a diesel fuel spray spread in a wide range, the velocity radial distribution is smooth and there are droplets with high speed beyond the visible spray border. When the spray impinges on the wall, the ensemble average velocity of the reflected droplets are obviously reduced, and its direction is nearly parallel to the wall. So after wall impingement, the motion of droplet group is similar to that of a gaseous jet but different from the rebounded solid particles.
