牙周病患者的咀嚼功能只能由少数或个别牙来承担,而且这种牙往往有明显松动,因此必须依靠义齿恢复咀嚼功能,改进面容的美观和对松动牙进行固定。作者最近发表了251例有5～8年牙周病史并经牙周治疗和固定修复后有关其效果的报道。本文332件固定修复中有26件是因工艺上的问题导致失败的,占7.8%,其中因固位体固位不良者占3.3%,修复体金属部分折裂者占2.1%,因基牙折断者为2.4%。失败原因主要是因为忽视了设计及制作过程中缺乏理论指导所致。
