2008年,甘肃陇南市拥有人口270万,其中农业人口占90%。陇南市有80%的县为国家扶贫重点县。在百年不遇的5·12地震的打击下,陇南遭受了有史以来最严重的破坏。而身处重灾区的中国电信甘肃陇南分公司,在大灾之年经受了考验,圆满完成了抢险救灾、重组收购、生产经营等各项任务,全年实现业务收入1.4亿元,其中非话收入占比达41%,高于全省平均水平。在全省本地网业绩考核中获三等奖,综合排名第四。公司继2006年获得“全国文明单位”后,2008年又被全国总工会授予“抗震救灾先进集体”荣誉称号,下属的文县、康县分公司分获全国“抗震救灾全国五一劳动奖章”和“全国抗震救灾重建家园工人先锋号”等荣誉称号。
