腰鼓,又称“长鼓”,因鼓身“油画红花纹以为饰”,故名花腔腰鼓。广西壮、瑶等少数民族最喜爱这种乐器。1979年8月,广西考古工作者在永福县县城附近的窑田岭发掘宋代瓷窑时,意外地发现了一座专门烧造花腔腰鼓的瓷窑,经在数以万计的腰鼓残件中挑选,获得两件比较完整的腰鼓鼓腔。这两件花腔腰鼓造型新颖,别具一格。腰鼓长57.6厘米,腰细,一头呈葫芦形,另一头呈喇叭形(见图)。鼓头内腔分别写“蒋小八”、“蒋四”等制瓷工匠姓名。鼓身外表绘有双蛇缠连和雌雄蜻蜒戏喜,画面线条粗
