一近年来,常熟市琴南乡紧紧抓住实施沿海地区经济发展战略的机遇,立足现有企业基础与外商合资嫁接,把乡镇企业推向国际经济舞台,开辟了一个向外拓展的新天地,走出了一条提高发展乡镇企业的新路子。1991年4月底,琴南乡已建成中外合资企业6家,名列常熟全市34个乡镇之首。琴南乡建办外商合资企业是1987年起步的。当年由该乡珠泾村办的“常熟华东印染助剂厂”率先与“香港大华化工贸易有限公司”合资建办了全乡首家外资企业——“常熟虞港印染助剂有限公司”。此后,又先后建成“常熟华祺植印制衣有限公司”等6家外商投资企
