随着施肥水平进一步提高,积极选育矮杆粳稻新品种,是防止倒伏,实现高产更高产的一项重要措施。为此,我站把矮杆、抗病、早熟、高产、质优,作为选育水稻新品种的主要目标。通过不断实践,在矮杆育种等方面,取得了一些进展,仅用5年时间,便先后育成了一批具有不同性状的粳(51—3、51—7和51—39等)、糯(51—4、51—2和51—36等)新品种、品系。这些新品种、品系在北京地区全生育期为110—170天,具有茎杆矮壮(株高70—95厘米),分蘖力强(单株平均分蘖20个以上),抗病(穗颈稻瘟病、白叶枯病、纹枯病),株型紧凑,叶片短而直立,生长清秀,活杆成熟,产量较高(比一般品种增产约20%)的特点。下面谈谈在矮杆育种工作中的一些体会。
