成人高校英语教学的特点是起点低,学时少,因此,有人认为“成人英语”就是“基础英语”或“入门英语”。成人学生学英语就象“鹦鹉学舌”一样,教师读一句,学生跟着念一句,在课堂教学中似乎用不上什么现代启发式。这种看法显然是错误的。启发式教学主要是把教师的主导作用和学生的主动性统一起来。教师的主导作用,不仅在于传授知识,更重要的在于调动学生的主观能动性,培养学生浓厚的学习兴趣,激发学生的求知欲和自觉性,引导学生积极思维,运用已经掌握的知识去分析问题,经过逻辑推理,得出正确的答案,从而解决问题,能动地获得知识,要培养学生具有一定的解决问题方面的能力,这就要求教师在教学过程中必须自始自终地运用现代启发式,特别是对于具有独立思考的成人学生来说更是如此。总之,对学生进行感知、解惑、巩固和应用的教学,千方百计激发学生的热情,引导学生自己去思考、探索、整理和发现,从而达到发展学习智能的目
