自画像(self-portrait)是肖像画的一种,根据韦氏新国际英语大词典的解释,应具有以下两点特征:1、由艺术家自己创造;2、由自己创作的体现出个性特征的图画。~1这两点含义中,第二点是第一点的延伸和补充,体现出“persona”(个性)的概念。虽然早在文艺复兴以前就有自画像的存在,例如老普林尼笔下一个叫玛尔西娅的女画家绘制自画像的故事通过薄伽丘的转述而广为人知。~2在中世纪,也有人把自己的形象画在了抄本书中。~3但是这些都没有体现出以上自画像的两点含义,只有到了文艺复兴时期,伴随着艺术家自我意识的诞生,才产生了现代意义的“自画像”。更
According to the interpretation of Webster’s new International English Dictionary, self-portrait should have the following two characteristics: 1) It is created by the artist himself; 2) A picture created by himself that reflects the personality traits. ~ 1 The meaning of these two points, the second point is the first point of the extension and supplement, reflecting the “persona” (personality) concept.
