白僵菌是一种寄生性病菌,扩散力强,杀虫效果好。多种害虫如松毛虫、玉米钻心虫等,感染到白僵菌就死亡了,但对人、畜安全,没有残毒。我大队在培养制造“五四○六”、“七○二”等菌肥的基础上,于一九七三年培养白僵菌成功,并用“滴滴涕”、“六六六”防治玉米钻心虫进行对比试验,效果很显著。三块对比试验结果是:使用白僵菌防治效果,分别达到93％、93. 5％、95％,使用25％滴滴涕防治效果为86％,使用6％“六六六”的分别为71. 5％和89％,不防治的,被害率达到40％到58%。在一九七四年的八十亩大面积示范田中进行抽样调查,白僵菌防治效果达到93％。
