According to a CW report of December 18, 2002, CNOOC and Shell Chemical Company have signed a contract with Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas for the construction of an ethylene oxide-ethylene glycol (EO-EG) unit at Daya Bay, Guangdong Province 000 million package contract. The EO-EG unit, part of the Nanhai Petrochemical joint venture with a total investment of 4.3 billion U.S. dollars in the region by CNOOC and Shell, is expected to be completed and put into production in 2005. It is also learned that CNOOC and Shell have also signed contracts for the production of ethylene, styrene monomer / propylene oxide / polyol and plant automation equipment.
