Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of Survivin and Fas in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder and its relationship with tumor grade, stage and recurrence. Methods The expression of Survivin and Fas in 72 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 10 cases of normal bladder mucosa were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. To analyze the relationship between Survivin and Fas gene expression and the grade, stage and recurrence of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Results The expression of Survivin increased with the increase of tumor grade, and was significantly increased in invasive bladder cancer (T2 ~ T4) and recurrent bladder cancer. The rate of Fas gene expression decreased with the increase of tumor grade and decreased significantly in recurrent bladder cancer. Conclusion The interaction between Survivin gene and Fas gene may play an important role in the development and invasion of bladder cancer.
