地榆为薔薇科植物Sanguisorba officinalis L.。和汉药用植物載为,Sanguisorba cornea Fischer.。药用其根或根莖。外用为“止膿血,諸瘘,惡疮热疮”,“(?)汗塗虎犬蛇虫伤”;並有“诸疮痛者加地榆”的記載。可知該药自古在外用上是止血收斂药,並具止痛作用。地榆的化学成分,主要为鞣酸,含量約17—25％;另含有一种皂素(Sanguisorbin),水解后能产生
The mantle is Rosaceae plant Sanguisorba officinalis L.. Chinese and Chinese medicinal plants are contained in Sanguisorba cornea Fischer. Medicinal roots or rhizomes.
