The present paper gives an account of a study of the planktonic Foraminifera of the northern South China Sea. Two hundred and sixteen bottom sediment samples and 818 vertical tow net samples served as material for the study of horizontal distribution of liring forms as well as their empty tests. In addition, 78 samples collected from one station were analyzed for a study of diurnal vertical migration.
