To investigate the effect of simulated weightlessness on brain functional status, event-related potentials (ERPs) for visual-selective responses under head-tilt (HDT-simulated weightlessness) and head-tilt (HUT, control) were compared among nine normal subjects ). The main results were as follows: Both target and non-target flash signals caused significant positive and slow potentials. Compared with HUT, the positive and slow potential amplitudes of the frontal area decreased significantly under HDT and were more prominent in non-target response. Since the positive and slow potentials mentioned above may be related to the attentional processes in the visual selection reaction, the results of this paper show that the functional state of the brain changes significantly under simulated weightlessness, manifested as a decrease in active inhibitory activity during attentional processes.
