良好的土地条件是实现农业现代化的基础。中阳县50万亩耕地中基本农田仅有11.7万亩,占总耕地的23.4％。其中:水地1.76万亩,梯田6.27万亩,坝地0.79万亩,沟坪地2.88万亩。平均亩产:水地300～500公斤,梯田125公斤,沟坪地和坝地200～400公斤。其余38.3万亩为坡耕地,占总耕地的76.6％,平均亩产50公斤左右。在坡耕地中20°以下的面积有29.295万亩,占坡耕地面积的76.49％。20°以上的面积有9.005万亩,占坡耕地面积的23.51％,平均亩产20～25公斤。坡耕地由于地面坡度大,水土流失严重,地力日益减退,产量低而不稳,很不适应农业现代化的需要,亟待改造。
