烟水亭坐落在江西九江甘棠湖中,相传为三国时周瑜的点将台旧址,唐白居易贬为江州(治今九江市)司马时,建亭在其上,取其《琵琶行》中“别时茫茫江浸月”之句,称“浸月亭”。宋周敦颐在九江讲学时,其子又在湖堤上另建一亭,取“山头水色薄笼烟”之句,名“烟水亭”。明嘉靖前,两亭皆毁。明末清初,在浸月亭旧址重建烟水亭。现亭为晚清建筑。 烟水亭四周环水,1972年建曲桥与之相连。亭为水榭式建筑,内有船亭、纯阳殿、翠昭轩、五贤(陶渊明、白居易、李勃、周敦颐、王阳明)阁、境波楼等建筑。纯阳殿左壁嵌碑一块,上刻吕洞宾大草书
