This article elaborates the rational utilization of local culture by exploring the local native culture in English classroom teaching - exploring the cultural elements from the cultural resources, appreciating the local culture in practice and concluding with the reflection in inheriting the culture - on improving students’ subjectivity in English learning Motivation and passion play a catalytic role. Probing into the use of local culture is an effective strategy to enrich teaching resources and to activate teaching process. The English curriculum standards advocate the flexible development of school-based textbooks with regional characteristics in combination with local resources, effectively enrich and extend the resources of course materials, and guide students to find the fun of learning in the real environment of real learning.
