长汀县城东北的长汀飞机场,始建于土地革命时期。1934年冬,原国民党东路军第三纵队指挥李延年奉令建筑长汀飞机场,主要是为了对付红军长征后活动在闽、赣两省的红军游击队。1936年底机场建成,占地两万平方米左右,约是后来机场的四分之一。机场建成后,国民党的小型双翼飞机曾在机场降落过。抗战时期,该机场经过两次大扩建,成为东南航空枢纽和战略要地,并在抗日战争中发挥了重要的作用。
Changting County, northeast of Changting Airport, was founded during the Agrarian Revolution. In the winter of 1934, Li Yannian, commander of the third column of the Former East Route Army of the Kuomintang, ordered the construction of Changting Airport, mainly to deal with the Red Army guerrillas operating in the Fujian and Jiangxi provinces after the Long March of the Red Army. The airport was completed by the end of 1936, covering about 20,000 square meters, about a quarter later airport. After the airport was completed, the KMT’s small biplane landed at the airport. During the war of resistance against Japan, the airport, after two major expansion, became the southeast aviation hub and strategic place and played an important role in the war of resistance against Japan.
