Testicular biopsies were obtained from 35 3-9-year-old boys in this study. Electron microscopy was used to classify and study quantitatively. Cells under pre-pubertal seminiferous tubules are classified under electron microscopy into three broad categories: (1) immature Leydig cells, (2) primary fibroblasts (tubes) and (3) peritubular fibroblasts . The ultrastructural characteristics of these three kinds of cells are: immature Leydig nucleus is very irregular, less heterochromatin, and primitive fibroblasts and peritubular fibroblasts nuclear shape rules, containing more heterochromatin.
