In the realistic creative activities, many attempts have been made to combine the fine traditions of traditional dwellings with modern Chinese architecture. As early as 1960, we tried to reflect the culture of the general public in the first prize program won in the National Design Competition of the “Wuxi Chinese Construction Workers’ Home”. Unfortunately, this was not achieved due to economic reasons. Twenty years later, Wuyi Villa, which is a collaboration between the Institute of Architecture and Fujian Provincial Architectural Design Institute, won the first prize in national architectural creation, but it is identical to the “Wuxi Chinese Construction Workers’ Home” project. Although the two are not out of one person’s hands, the ideology is in the same line. In 1984, we were in the creation of the new building design of Taihu Hotel in Wuxi.
